A dive into facebook advertising

In light of our upcoming Digital Camp with Google's Success Online, we invited Succes Online’s Digital Marketing Consultant Simon Osbech to write about Facebook Advertising.

What makes Facebook an interesting platform for marketeers?

With 1.8 billion daily users and the most precise advertisement technology known to man, Facebook can potentially be a platform that you will achieve specific and measurable results from. So far, it has been exactly that for me.

The average person spends 35 minutes per day on Facebook. In this digital age, major players like Facebook and Google have access to a vast amount of anonymized information on its users. Information that counts demographic on each user and his or her digital behavior and interest patterns. This information allows us to target very specific people and create tailored and relevant ads to our chosen target audience.

By knowing how to work this algorithm, we’re able to find people, who’s behavior matches the goals that we’re seeking with our campaigns.

The intelligence behind Facebook

Facebook is controlled by a complex and intelligent algorithm. By knowing how to work this algorithm, we’re able to find people, who’s behavior matches the goals that we’re seeking with our campaigns. If a company wants to increase its revenue, I can find people, who are more likely to purchase online. If a company wants users to see its new video, I can find people, who are likely to watch more videos online. If a company wants to increase its brand awareness, I can find people, who resonate with that specific brand. The possibilities are almost endless.

Facebook can track my journey across devices. Today I can start my journey on my smartphone and finish it on my laptop. Facebook will know I’m the same person

People vs. cookies.

Facebook can track my journey across devices. Today I can start my journey on my smartphone and finish it on my laptop. Facebook will know I’m the same person, unlike for instance Google Analytics.

Furthermore, we’re able to delve into the anonymized information on our existing target audience through Facebook. What interests does your Facebook Page followers share? What demographics are shared between your website visitors? Facebook can tell you that – and much more.
